iDeLick Media and Creative Photography was guest and the annual World Bride Magazine Show on Saturday 12th December 2009.

Presented by Selina Davis, Editor & Chief of World Bride put together as wonderful evening of dining and wine with a fabulous Bridal wear Fashion show. It was a chance for couples planning on wedding to see in comfort at the Mayfair Hotel at the plush side of town outstanding gowns by world leaders in Bridal wear design.

The Evening featured designs from Jane Wilson Marquis New York, Isobel Zapardiez, Spain and Jasper Garvida, London.

The show was Hosted by the delightful International Fashion Model Betsie Dsane.

The following is an interview with Editor & Chief at World Bride, Selina Davis.

Capital Weddings

Weddings in the city are alive and well as we found on assignment during this chilly autumn period. As the sky falls dark and as I raced to grab great pictures while the light was spare. It dawned on me that the City's Lights hold wonders to be reckoned with.

Getting around, ensuring not to turn a wonderful day into a fashion photoshoot, I sensed the bride was quite enjoying the scenery of Katherine Docks by Tower Bridge. Night fell, the night sky held a magical mixture of colour emanating from the dockside water and springing-up to provide us with a fabulous light show.

Seeing it, is believing it, so I say that a The City of London wedding should be a serious consideration. Even better, a wedding venue by the Thames could prove to be a memory you'll never forget.

My only caveat would be to ensure the venue has access for the bridal carriage and space for the guests. The last thing you'll ever want if for your guests to turn up and on parking space can be found. So During the planning stage, please account for parking if you're going for a City of London Wedding.

Will You...? I Do... Thing To Do

On assignment to shoot the wedding of Bev and Jason, I though I'd been transported to a Hollywood film set as I admired the choice of church, the decor and the arrangement of the decoration throughout the church.

I was a little concerned about the silence during the ceremony thinking it was just the way it is and nothing to worry about. Silently moving around church like a ninja exchanging a sword for a camera. I couldn't help but to focus on the parents of the wedding couple thinking. They look quite happy about the marriage too the point where I noticed both the Bride and Groom's Parents were hand in hand as though they were all re-living their wedding vows during the ceremony. Camera steady, snap snap! Glorious. It's history now.

The church was completely full of friends and family, children and their means of transport - Decorated buggies. The ceremony had finished and as I followed the Bride & Groom through to sign the Marriage Cert. I could sense a certain relief like I have never sensed before. Being privy to the conversation with the Newly Wed, Mrs & Mr, he spoke 'mums are happy. Yes they are' said the Bride.

I thought nothing of it and carried on ensuring I got that shot to make their hearts flutter. The signing of the Cert.

The after ceremony photoshoot, everything was very much straight-forward. I'm now in the zone and feeling good. The Best Man was on the ball by echoing my request and asking for a few novelty shoots. happy to assist I replied. Overall, the finest shot I got during this process was the Parent of the Bride. I wasn't quite sure why, but hay. That's how it goes. My job is just to be ready to capture that moment. And of course, I did.

The day was going really well only for it to get better as the day went on. The reception was easy to find with great directions as guest were met with a glass of bubbly on entry to the venue by well-dressed smiling waiting staff. Probably one of the most relaxing photography jobs I've had. And that's quite a lot.

It made me think for a while of a really crazy time when I was over the park with my camera as I met another wedding party having their photoshoot by a passerby using a compact camera to take the special memories. Well, I can only do what I do, only to be collared by one of the wedding party who noticed my camera and realising I was not playin' around with it. They promptly put in the request and what was a simple photo-stroll in the park became a fully blown wedding photography job.

Sorry for the digression. Back to the reality of capturing Bev and Jason's Reception as I clasped my first beverage of the day. I took a few more shots and allowed the party to enjoy their Breakfast. Speeched were had and more networking and then up for the cutting of the cake and the first dance. In general, I had a top experience.

My thoughts reflected at the time when the Groom checked over to the Bride's mum as I took the shot she spoke warmly to the Groom. I'm really glad you Manned-up and asked for Bev's hand in marriage. "You're a good Son" she said.

So for you guys out there thinking about doing it your own way. Take this lesson as the first 'thing to do'. Go and see the Bride's Parents and ask for permission to take her hand in marriage. You won't regret it!

Influenza Free Safety Zone

Whooppy, the invitation for Sophia and Stephen White’s Marriage Blessing arrived. The newly married couple were very considerate to ensure their friends who couldn’t make it abroad were able give their blessing.

The Blessing took place in the midst of the swine flu pandemic and threaten attendees who earmarked on this event with well wishes. Cheers and merriment were had and the evening when off in fine style.

iDeLick Media & Creative Photography where assigned to photograph this wedding and like everyone else were at risk of catching this virus before this fine event. So what did we do to ensure we made it to the Blessing in the best of health?

Take plenty of fluids, mainly water or fresh juice.
Carried tissues – Just in case someone developed a cough – Remembering to catch it, bin it and kill it by washing your hands.

Standing Tall Throughout Your Special Day

It's late in the evening and the hearty wedding breakfast has just been consumed by the party of family and guest. Time now for the bride to move around and mingle. Oh yeah, and with her husband. But what is truly amazing for the well prepared Bride is that they always seem to be standing tall.

Back in December 2008, My buddy Fraser over at Peartree Photography Rental and iDeLick Media & Creative Photography was assigned to photograph the wedding of Sarah and Daniel Palmer at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Wanstead, London. Despite it being the start of winter, the reception was warmly received and in the spirit of a wonderful wedding. Everyone had a great time.

Back at the studio and about eight weddings now attached to our name. I began to notice a reoccurring pattern with brides which relates to their stance and ease of standing tall. The realisation was that it's all about the corset...

However strategically worn, either under or over the Bridal Gown. A corset dutifully gives the wearer that graceful confident stance with an air of modesty.

So, next time you're invited to a wedding or becoming a Bride yourself, I hope you'll find atleast a snippet of advice in this offering and consider a corset.

Shoes Saga

I was very fortunate to be awarded with a photoshoot for the prestigious bridal wear boutique, Exquisite Bride in Plaistow E13 for their 2009 catalogue. Time came around to begin photographing selected wedding shoes when I noticed I was set aside a range of shoe with different size heals. How peculiar I thought and question the Designer Florence about the range and was surprised by her answer. Well, that's just me thinking about fashion and beauty.

I was informed that after choosing the Bride's dress the next consideration is to find a pair of shoe to compliment the dress. The shoe should be fashionable and classy. But overall, you must consider your Bride will be wearing her shoes for 10 hours or more. Comfort must be the first consideration!

Let's look at it this way. She'll leave the home, jump into the Bridal Carriage for the Ceremony and that's an hour or so. After signing the Marriage Register the Bride moves onto meeting the family and guest. Then, It'll be my part again to take a few photos with the family and guest and then onto the Reception.

By now, should that fashionable and trendy pair of shoes begin to take its toll, there might be time to slip them off in the ride to the Reception. On arrival, our Bride will be moving around before she takes her seat at the head of the Breakfast Table. This is where I would start worrying as a Wedding Photographer hoping to catch as many pleasant smiles as possible and those loving glances toward her hubby. I've heard it once and there is definitely no need for me to hear it again. 'If you want see lady change into a crumbling wreck, give her the wrong shoes, have her walk around for five minutes and hay presto! You'll not only have a wrecked Bride, you'll have crappy features in your photos because of an uncomfortable pair of shoes'.

As a guide, Designer Florence advised shoe with a 5cm heal or lower is a good height. Anything higher, 'you might be taking a big risk'.

Picture This...

So what is in a picture that generate ideas for your special wedding day?

I was assigned to photograph the wedding of Bev and Jason back in August 2009, and to say they had done a fabulous job with the arrangements. I was astounded by a well received ceremony and the emotions approval of the family and guests. I didn't know the family at all and to find out that I was related as a second cousin to the Groom was a real turn of fate for me. During the ceremony I became fixated by the amount of small details that had gone into the planning and choices made.

This photo on viewing holds a significant place in my lexicon for considering that all important co-ordination of that dress, the Bride's Maids and the Maid of Honour's dress. The colour, the contrast and the Wows at the moment the Bride enter the ceremony. With the lighting, the Groom and the Flower Girl, Ring Bearer, Ushers and the decor. It could be enough to make any wedding ceremony look like a Hollywood production.
